So……what’s more important? The beat pounding in the club, in the trunk, through the headphones, out of the phone speakers? Or the voice performing lyrics as the beat perfectly compliments the topic of the song? Well, my short opinion is this. Quick story. Two different artist on the same beat, recording in two different environment with two different topics and two different states of mind, one of those version might grab your attention while the other one won’t. And vice versa for another listener of the two songs using the same beat. The beat itself does not have the power to grab attention of fans, but it does spark the mind of an artist to get those create juices flowing. So in short, the artist makes the beat. But it does not take away from the beat being enjoyable or inspiring. Because it’s possible that the beat could have a driving force to a point that people can’t help but to focus on the lyrics and content of the song. When it feels right, it all just comes together easily. Peace!
